When Bali's old copper telephone lines were ripped out of the ground and left lying on the side of the road, enterprising metal smiths appropriated everything. They burned the insulation off, and hand-hammered the copper into various forms. "I'm not usually attracted to creating anything 'useful'. Bowls? Never, I thought. But I couldn't resist. The energy of the local entrepreneurs really fired me up." Jon continues to experiment with 'useful' art, giving static bowls dynamic action, giving flowers a stage to perform... and creating polymer clay paintings called flatwork that will knock the socks off any wall.
